The Teen Center is a unique collaborative effort of St. Luke UMC, Burke High School, Nebraska Methodist College and numerous community partners. We promote opportunity for students through intentional afterschool programming that provides education, exposure, and mentorship. Our programming includes academic assistance, post-secondary preparedness, health and wellness, alumni support services, and family support services.
Academic Assistance
The academic services we provide are critical to high school graduation and post-secondary enrollment. Some of the services include: tutoring, academic electives, incentives, and access to technology, schoolbooks, and school supplies.
Post-Secondary Preparedness
We work to ensure every student has a post-secondary plan to help them work towards self sufficiency. Programming includes ACT prep, college and career exploration, and financial literacy.
Health and Wellness
We hope to equip our students with the skills to be both physically and mentally healthy. Classes include sexual decision making, cooking and nutrition, open gym, dance fitness, and expressive arts group counseling.
Alumni Support Services
As our students graduate and continue to pursue their academic and career goals, the need for assistance continues. We continue to engage many of our alumni through post-secondary and beyond with the following services: mentoring, academic and career counseling, alumni reunions and service navigation.
Family Support Services
Our mission of 'Together, a Brighter Future' includes support for our student's families. Some of our services include: Family nights, tax prep/FAFSA events, holiday assistance and community counseling program.
